JaJa Fresca Paloma

Hi Friends,

I hope everyone was able to enjoy their Mother’s Day. I was blessed to wake up to flowers, gifts, a drawing from my son, along with a delicious breakfast spread from my fiancé. My son and him did an amazing job at making me feel special…and full lol.

Usually on Mother’s Day the featured beverage is the Mom’mosa ;-) however this year I decided to switch it up and I crafted one of my favorite refreshing cocktails, The Paloma.

Similar to a Salty Dog, The Paloma is also made with grapefruit juice, but instead of vodka it is mixed with my all time favorite spirt - TEQUILA.

I enjoy the tart sourness of a good Paloma. And like I mentioned before- it really is such a refreshing cocktail. I believe the recipe I put together is more revitalizing because I add some bubbles by using Fresca Grapefruit Sparkling Soda. The fizz helps take this beverage to new levels of joy!

Tips before you mix:

  • Silver Tequila

  • Fresh Grapefruit

  • Fresh Lime

Blanco or silver tequila is suggested. I pulled out the new millennial favorite, Meme-Made tequila, JaJa Blanco. All jokes aside, it’s a great spirt and mixes well for creative self-made mixologist like myself. In addition to using blanco tequila, use fresh squeezed grapefruit juice if possible. If you use store bought grapefruit juice it will make the drink heavy and will take away from it’s uplifting refreshing taste.

Two ways to salt- you can either salt your rim (add some lime zest for fun, trust me) or you can Salt-Bae a dash of salt into the beverage. Also, feel free to leave the salt out completely.

No shaking required, you can simply build the drink over ice in one glass, give it a quick stir with your reusable straw (I like these) add your garnishes and sip away.

What I Fear most as a Mother

What I Fear most as a Mother

One of my biggest fears as a mother has been not being able to prevent my son from getting hurt: physically, emotionally, and/or mentally. I realized I cannot raise my son in a bubble. Even as “Mommy” I cannot stop pain and hurt occurring in his life. But instead I can nurture his confidence, awareness, & mindfulness. I can teach him how to compose himself through tough moments with strength, faith, and character. I cannot keep my son from failing, falling, or disappointment because it is in these very moments where he can learn and grow closer to becoming a man. It’s ok to have fears. How we face them is what makes the difference. What are some of your Parenting Fears and how have you overcome those fears? Please share ️

Hello Fam!

One of my best friends and fellow Super Fly Moms just launched her website! Lisa Nguyen of Luxe Nails has been keeping finger tips and toes beautifully kept for nearly a decade now. With salons in both Philadelphia and New Jersey it’s safe to say her large clienteles’ finger tips and toes are gravely missing her during these times of quarantine.

Nevertheless, Lisa and her sister, Lemy Nguyen, partner in Luxe Mani and Pedi Lounge in New Jersey are women who truly care for their clients and wanted to find a way to continue serving all of us even while social distancing. Once shelter in place surpassed 14 days, women across the tri-state area were faced with a new crisis- chipped nail polish, grown out tips, and no way to remove gel polish.

I know, a trivial worry during these scary times, but arguably so, still a crisis in the terms of nail bed maintanence. But the Super Fly Moms of Luxe Nails and Luxe Mani and Pedi Lounge rose to the occasion and launched a site to offer mani pedi kits for us moms, women, and men alike so we would be able to give some self love to our hands and feet while we do our part and #stayhome.

Now, please do not take my exaggeration out of context. ‘Rising’ to the occasion ‘crisis and worry’ about chipped nail polish during a pandemic sounds absurd, but I’m talking about how Lisa and Lemy are doing their part for moms by helping uplift them. These are really scary times and if a fresh paint of Glisten Carefully or Verde Nice to Meet You can help you smile, then in my book it’s considered a victory.
